About
All Energy Drinks! is a website about all the different types of energy drinks that are available on the market today from your local gas station, to the grocery store, to online from places like Amazon.com. Energy drinks, it seems, are everywhere. But what exactly are energy drinks? And what are they made out of?
Energy Drinks
Energy drinks are soft (sometimes carbonated) drinks which are advertised to boost energy. These drinks are usually high in calories, but do not emphasize calories as the source of energy, but from a range of caffeine, vitamins, and/or other supplements the manufacturer has put into the energy drink.
Ingredients
Generally, energy drinks include methylxanthines, which are mild stimulants like caffeine derived from xanthine, vitamin B and herbs like leaves, roots, flowers, seeds, resin, root bark, inner bark, and berries. Other common ingredients are guarana, acai, and taurine, plus various forms of ginseng, maltodextrin, carbonated water, inositol, carnitine, creatine, glucuronolactone and ginkgo biloba. Some contain high levels of sugar, and many brands also offer artificially-sweetened ‘diet’ versions like the blue Monster. The most common “energy” ingredient in most energy drinks is caffeine, the same stimulant found in coffee or tea, often in the form of guarana or yerba mate.
